Under current law, we are required to give you this privacy notice. It describes the Area Credit Union's privacy policy and practices about the personal information we collect and disclose, including the parties who receive personal and sometimes nonpublic information from us as we conduct the business of the credit union.

Area Credit Union collects nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on member applications or other forms;
  • Information about your transactions with us or others;and
  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency
  • We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about you to anyone, except as permitted by law.

    If you decide to terminate your membership or become an inactive member, we will not share information we have collected about you, except as permitted, or required by law.

    Area Credit Union restricts access to your personal and account information to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information.

    CUSTOMER IDENTIFICATION PROGRAM

    In compliance with the USA Patriot Act

    We at Area Credit Union wish to inform our members of the changes that have been made when you open a new account.

    Everyone knows the story behind 9-11 and because of this horrible act we will be doing the following changes when opening an account.

    We will be asking for you ID in the form of a drivers license, passport, and in some cases we will accept the company ID. If you are opening an account from out of town it will need to come thru the company you work for. If an account is not opened face-to-face and does not come thru a company that belongs to the credit union, copies of identification documentation must be provided to confirm the identity of the member and/or signatory on the account. If you are opening an account for a minor or family member who is without an ID you will be required to show your ID.

    All new members must have a Social Security number or a Tax ID number.(A minor without a Social Security number will need to use the parent or grandparent's number until one is provided for the minor.)

    NO ACCOUNT WILL BE OPENED WITHOUT ONE OF THESE NUMBERS!!

    Information on the membership card must be completely filled out including the secruity code(known as your password).

    The required information must be provided within 60 days of opening the account or the account will be closed and the funds mailed to the last known address.
