AREA CREDIT UNION was formed in 1961 as G-B Employee Credit Union. In 1973 the name was changed to C-T KC Credit Union serving CertanTeed Corp, Aerquip, Gustin Bacon Division, and their families. In 1983 a request to also include the Fairfax area was approved by the state. To better represent our membership, in 1986 a request to change our name to Area Credit Union was approved. We now serve CertainTeed Corp. nationwide, Russell Stover Candies nationwide, anyone who works in, lives in, or is paid from the Fairfax area, and member's families.

We have a variety of loans for autos, RV, Boats, 2nd mortgage, etc. Check our rates page for more information.

We have share accounts that earn a high dividend yield that is determined each quarter by the Board of Directors. You can have a 2nd account called a special account to use for vacation, taxes, insurance, etc. You can open a Christmas club account anytime during the year and checks are mailed between October 3rd and 10th. Cynthia A. Olson has been with the credit union for 26 years and has served as the Manager for the past 10 years. She always enjoys talking with the members about their needs and works to achieve their goals. Since becoming Manager she has worked to continue to keep the credit union running as smooth as the previous Manager.She has worked to bring new programs to the credit union to better benefit the members.

Helen Deatherage has completed her 19th year and now serves as our Loan Officer. She communicates between the member and the Credit Committee to finance as many loans as possible while keeping our delinquent loans at a minimum. She works with the members on their loans and she works to make sure payments are being made and helps members in solving their credit problems.

Katrina Cheadle Katrina Cheadle has severed the membership for 9 years. She is a pleasure to work with and the members find her very helpful and enjoy working with her. She is a loan officer, works with our payroll system, and was instrumental in starting the JOHNNY APPLESEED ACCOUNT program. Whatever task she is given, she takes great pride in getting it completed. She has been a great asset to this credit union and continues to take on more responsibilities.
